SIRD is situated in a sprawling complex of 25 acres in Maraimalainagar. SIRD has two air conditioned conference halls (60 and 30 capacity). There is one non A/C conference hall with 100 member capacity and one class room with a capacity of 25nos. SIRD has the latest audio visual aids like projector, computer aided multi-media projector and the like. These facilities are utilized by other Agencies for conducting training on payment to SIRD.

Computer Lab
|
SIRD has a computer lab. In the computer lab, effective training is imparted to the officers and staff of various departments in computer applications with online and multimedia assisted presentations for IT enabled governance in RD.

Library
|
SIRD has a library consisting of more than 9,500 books on various subjects. SIRD library subscribes to 38 journals and periodicals. The library has been designed to attract the visiting participants for easy access to books. Besides the library, SIRD has a wing for audio/video and video compact discs/digital video discs collected from various Departments/Agencies. These are also made available to the participants for reference.

As part of information dissemination, State Institute of Rural Development, Maraimalai Nagar is developing a digital library which has a collection of interactive CD-ROMs on various subject matters. These are collected and kept for the use of faculty and participants. Information is downloaded, made in the form of CD and added to these collections.
Guest House
|
All the programs are residential in nature and to support the residential training programmes, a two-storied guest house is available within the campus. The guest house can accommodate 100 participants in 4 single rooms, 21 double rooms and 18 triple rooms. There are 4 air-conditioned VIP suites. The guest house has solar water heating system, boarding, recreation, communication and transportation facilities.

Presently (2008-2009) the guest house catering and house keeping have been assigned to a women Self-Help Group from Palavakkam SHG Panchayat Level Federation of Kancheepuram District.
Other infrastructure facilities
SIRD has sufficient electrical and electronic equipments for the efficient functioning of the Institute in imparting training and providing accommodation to the participants. A 50 KVA generator, campus electrical transformer and heavy duty copier are some of such instruments.

Class Rooms
|
The present infrastructure caters to fulfill the needs of only 100 participants and allows the Institute to conduct three training programmes at a time. Steps are being taken to construct new hostel cum staff quarters. The proposed hostel will provide accommodation for 50 participants. Additional hostel facilities and class rooms are essential for conducting more training programmes, workshops, seminars simultaneously.
